Hey Tribe,
It is with deep disappointment that I bring the news of suspending all scheduled classes at EGA until further notice. Please understand this was a very difficult choice to make but after speaking with an employee of the CDC and reading advice from former FDA Chief Dr. Scott Gottlieb, the best way to reduce the spread of this virus is with aggressive, proactive mitigation, the reduction of large social gatherings.
There have been absolutely ZERO cases of anyone at EGA, with any symptoms of the Coronavirus or related illnesses, and our aim is to keep it this way.
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu involves close contact, and physical engagements with training partners whom come from all walks of life and work all over the Tri-State area. Because of this, I believe it to be too high-risk to continue on with classes as usual.
The safety and well-being of our students and their families is of the utmost priority, and that’s why Evolution Grappling Academy is taking such aggressive measures towards reducing the spread of the Coronavirus.
We still want our students to be able to receive valuable instruction during this unfortunate and unprecedented time. With the incredible modern technology of our day, we will be providing online instruction on our Evolution Grappling Academy Facebook page. If you do not have a Facebook, our daily instructional videos will be uploaded to our YouTube channel ‘EvoBJJ’.
Since Monday, I’ve been closely watching the development of the COVID-19 virus. The decision of indefinitely suspending classes heavily weighed on me, but I believe in the need to be proactive in our fight against the spread of the Coronavirus.
The virus spreads very aggressively. In the US, the largest cluster of the virus is less then 60 miles away in Westchester, County. Two days ago the confirmed Coronavirus cases in the US was 500, today we’re at over 1,500.
This was a very tough decision to make, as painful as it is canceling classes and staying off the mats, it’s my main priority to ensure the health and safety of the students and their families within the confines of EGA.
