For our very first Throwdown Thursday we’re going to throwback to October 2021. Mike Palladino, along with students Joan Demetroules and Nico DeMilio, traveled to Bellingham, WA to compete on a championship card for Battle Grappling. In Mike’s pursuit for the 185 lb. Champion Belt, he was paired with former UFC fighter, Cody McKenzie, in a sub-only bout.

McKenzie, known for his own variation of guillotine choke, has 13 wins by guillotine in his 17 professional wins record. With the third-most guillotine victories in the world (according to Sherdog.com), McKenzie’s variation of the choke has been deemed, “The McKenzietine.” Watch as Mike Palladino finds himself caught in the “McKenzietine,” escape, and then secure the submission with a guillotine of his own.
